Descale Cast Iron Sewer Pipes

Do I need to descale cast iron sewer pipes?

If you own an older home, there’s a good chance you have cast iron sewer pipes that may have scale, metal and debris buildup. Overtime the constant flow of wastewater running through the pipes takes a toll. Pipes will begin to show their wear with the buildup of sediment and the formation of rust. This buildup may result in blockages and flooding if left untreated. If you are experiencing slow draining, backed up water, or noticing a foul-smelling odor. Don’t ignore your old clogged pipes. Scale can prevent water flow to and from your home or business. Make sure to descale cast iron sewer pipes before they become a more serious problem.

On the plus side a complete sewer line replacement may not be necessary. Before you consider replacing your cast iron sewer pipes, try descaling your pipes. Western Rooter can employ our pipe descaling method. For older houses, descaling is important to help stop blockages and save homeowners from having to replace the entire sewer line.

Many companies will use a more traditional method to try and clean cast iron pipes with blades or cable attached to a drain snake. This method is ok for clearing a clog, but it doesn’t descale the inner walls of your pipe and help to prevent future clogs. Depending on the severity of the pipes and accumulation of scale, Western rooter utilizes a US Jetting hydro jetter with ENZ Technik and Warthog Sewer Nozzles to descale your pipes. What takes normally two machines can now be done with one, saving you time and money.

After removing all the scale and metal buildup accumulated on the pipe walls, we can quickly restore the flow with a smooth surface and save your old pipes for less money than digging up and replacing them. If your pipes are damaged and descaling is not an option, we can re-line them using our trenchless pipe method. We provide free estimates and recommend the best method to get and keep you flowing for years to come!
