Backflow Testing
Posted 6 years ago

You may not know it, but a backflow prevention device, and proper backflow testing, is an important element in keeping your clean water, clean.

What is a backflow prevention device? A backflow prevention device is a device that protects clean water sources from contamination further down the line caused by normal fluctuations in water pressure. Some equipment connected to clean water lines may contain stagnant water or water with chemicals.

Equipment like fire suppression systems have pipes that fill with water which then sits and goes stagnant as it is unused. When the water in a mainline is accessed, it may cause a drop in pressure that causes water in the fire suppression system to enter the main water line effectively contaminating it. A backflow prevention system prevents stagnant water from entering the clean water line.

Water municipalities in the Los Angeles Area require devices to be tested once a year. If properties are not in compliance they may turn off the municipal water supply to the property.

Western Supreme Rooter has three full-time backflow certified testers on staff, and they offer same-day backflow testing and repairs. Generally, backflow testing is completed once a year to insure that the device is working properly and with Western Supreme Rooter pricing starts at only $68.00!

Although it may be something that many people don’t think about, a backflow prevention device is an important piece of equipment that helps keep residents safe and healthy. Leaving it unchecked may cause dangerous situations for residents or the loss of water. Call Western Supreme Rooter today to schedule your backflow device test.
