Large quantities of food and debris going into garbage disposers can overwhelm them and clog the kitchen sink drain. Few things are more frustrating than a kitchen sink that won’t drain, but Western Rooter will repair or replace broken garbage disposers and get your sink back to normal in no time.
These are the steps we take to install a garbage disposal in your home. Experienced garbage disposal installation technicians will gladly come out to your home and perform these steps to ensure your disposal is installed properly and correctly so you don’t have to worry.
We’ll begin by removing the appliance from the packaging. Then, disconnect the power at the circuit breaker. Next, we will identify and remove the cover plate on the underside of the disposal.
Finally, most disposals have the same colored wires. The technician will connect the appropriate wires.
This consists of the metal disk at the entrance of the drain in the bottom of the sink as well as a small pipe that extends under the sink. The flange is inserted into the drain hole and pressed down.
This step begins by aligning a rubber gasket between the bottom of the flange. Tighten the mounting screws for the upper mounting ring. By alternating the tightening of the screws to pull the ring up evenly against the underside of the sink, the gasket will create a water-tight seal.
The technician will raise the disposal and attach it to the mounting ring. Making sure that the disposal outlet faces the drain pipe connection, they will turn the lower ring clockwise until the disposal is supported by the mounting assembly.
The discharge tube is measured and cut to length. Not all disposals are the same size. The discharge pipe is then attached.
All fasteners at the plumbing and mount connectors are tightened and tested for leaks. This final step is to ensure that one of our experienced technicians successfully installed the garbage disposal.
