Today, we had our in-depth, hands-on, Uponor PEX pipe training, at our office in Arcadia. This is a training class we are fortunate enough to take part in every 6 months. The parts used in our industry are evolving. We do our best to educate and adapt our technicians.

We’ve recommended PEX pipe before, but we’re happy to do so again. Those with copper and CPVS pipes maybe be curious to know, we’ve found it to be a good alternative to Copper Piping.

We’ll do our best to address some common questions, such as: What is PEX? What the difference is between these piping options? Is this piping resistant to damage from freezing water temperatures? What about temperature and pressure performance?

PEX stands for crosslinked polyethylene. This improves properties like temperature and pressure performance, chemical resistance and resistance to slow crack growth. It’s also highly flexible, so it can easily bend around tight corners, also there are fewer required connections. The Uponor ProPEX ® connection doesn’t require glues, solvents or soldering. Both the pipe and fittings don’t pit, scale or corrode. Which, in turn, means fewer potential leak points. This flexibility also enables it to expand up to three times the tubing’s diameter, making it more resistant to damage from frozen water in the system.

If you’re curious to know if this piping solution is the right solution for you, please feel free to give us a call at 626.448.6455
