Tankless Water Heaters – A Smart, Green Choice During Tax Refund Season

No matter what choices we each make, we hope folks are thinking about their futures, and making smart investments with those large lump sums that often come during tax refund season. For many people, investing in quality plumbing is simply one more part of investing in their homes.

One investment we like to encourage is switching to a tankless water heater because they not only heat water on demand, they’re super energy efficient, they don’t take up as much room, and they’re more durable than conventional water heaters.

Each year, American homeowners pay $400 to $600, on average, to heat water for their washing, bathing and cleaning. That comes to 64 gallons every day, 365 days a year, or more than 23,000 gallons annually.

With this kind of hot water consumption, we’ve heard some common problems:

• I keep running out of hot water.
The hot water quickly loses heat as it’s being used because a conventional water heater can’t heat water on demand.

• I have a big family.
There just isn’t enough hot water in the reservoir of a conventional tank heater to supply your needs.

• My current water heater takes up too much space.
Needs change, and sometimes a bigger hot water capacity is required, but old homes cannot always accommodate bigger tank heaters.

• My current water heater is 10 or more years old.
Over time, tank heaters fill with sediments and scale, which greatly reduces efficiency, and wrecks havoc on water appliances down the line.

• I prefer appliances that are energy-efficient.
Tankless water heaters offer Energy Star compliance, and rebates, as well as greatly improved efficiency compared to conventional heaters.

• My home uses gas fuel.
Then you’re all set and ready to supply your family with an endless supply of hot water.

If any of these points ring true to you, then you should consider tankless water heaters. However, saving money on your gas bill every month isn’t the only reason to consider tank less hot water. Reducing our carbon footprint by seeking greener solutions is worthwhile as well. Consider the following:

• A tankless water heater can save you up to 40% of your current water heating bill.

• If every US household switched to tankless hot water, it would equal CO2 savings equivalent to taking 6.7 million cars off the road.

• Tankless water heaters last up to twice as long as traditional tank water heaters, so they reduce landfill waste.

• A cypress tree reduces 31 pounds of CO2 per year. Switching to a tankless water heater could reduce as much 1,000 pounds of CO2 per year, equivalent to 33 cypress trees!

All of this is better for our wallets, and better for our environment. What’s not to like about an eco friendly, and money saving solution?

Give us a call and we’ll be happy to come out for a visit, look at your specific needs, make a recommendation, and offer a free estimate for installation.
